Continuing her rhizomatic performance series, Takeya examines historical “isms” in art. She paraphrases and re-enacts ideas and strategies of the art movements, transferring them into Takeya’s very own universe of “Lemonism”. A three-day-long Gesamtkunstwerk where the flesh of fruit and humans, ritual and ecstasy meet 20th-century art:

The performance in July 2015 was presented in the framework of “Redefining Action(ism)”, a cooperation between ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival and mumok. It is the kick-off for a performance series of Lemonism, in which Akemi Takeya will examine the relation between “Lemonism” and the existing “Isms” in our world.

In a residency at nadaLokal Akemi Takeya continues the research for the performance series LEMONISM that will explore the “Kunstismen” – the “isms” of different art movements – in several performances. Her research will also focus on the potential of live streaming of performance art in the world wide web.
